Silent Screams Assortment II Undergoes Further Changes
January 10, 2001 – Originally, Aztech Toys intended on providing fans with an assortment of more of the most devious and monstrous creatures to grace the silver screen in the silent era; the set originally included Maria, the robotic mistress from Fritz Lang's Metropolis, the Golem, the mythological Hebrew equivalent of Frankenstein's monster, Robert Louis Stevenson's Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde, and Thomas Edison's rendition of Frankenstein's Monster. Currently, however, Aztech Toys is defunct, replaced my Mezco Toys, and though Silent Screamers II are nonetheless greenlighted, even more changes must be endured. Originally, the Golem was replaced by a second version of Graf Orlock, a thinly veiled incarnation of Count Dracula based on the 1922 film Nosferatu, but apparently, the replacement figure has been dropped all together, leaving an assortment originally slated for a Feburary release containing Maria, Jekyll and Hyde, and Edison's Frankenstein. In related news, Mezco Toys plans to continue production and development of other licenses, including everyone's favorite sailor Popeye and an assortment of warped and twisted interpretations of characters from Alice In Wonderland as well as Little Red Riding Hood called Scary Tales.
